Training

Many companies now recognise the value of good quality for their staff training. Indeed, training of operatives in safe use has always been a legal requirement under the Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974. The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) also state that:

“it is a legal requirement that all employees are properly trained and every lifting operation is properly planned by a competent person, appropriately supervised and carried out in a safe manner.”

At Austin & McLean we have developed a range of training packages designed to ensure that your staff receive high quality
tuition from our fully qualified NPORS and ITTSAR registered instructors and consultants. This includes the development of practical skills such as pre-use inspection procedures and safe slinging which can be implemented in the workplace immediately.

In many cases, correct training of staff has resulted in fewer accidents and less damage to lifting equipment and load and subsequent downtime, leading to cost savings. Our safety and training consultants will be pleased to audit your operation, make recommendations with regard to suitability of equipment, storage etc. and establish the best training programme to suit your staff.

Our training portfolio features a range of courses, such as working at height, manual handling, confined access, forklift safe use of lifting equipment and correct overhead crane operation.

We deliver the courses at customers’ premises or in our training suite, and we have now produced a distance learning CBT package for our more remote clients such as those at sea.
